This is arguably the single most important area of any website project and I do not take this lightly. You may already know that most websites fail to generate business. In order to use the web effectively to promote your business, I need to:

1. Get potential customers to visit your site.
2. Convert your sites visitors into paying customers.

How I get potential customers to your website

One of the best methods of getting potential customers on your website is through proper Search Engine Optimization. I use search engines to provide a constant, free of charge, targeted stream of potential customers. However, in order to achieve this, have need to achieve a high ranking in search results for searches relevant to your business. Many websites fail because the competition is too strong for the search phrases they target or that the search phrases they target do not generate enough potential customers. For example, I was looking to target people from Glasgow who were looking to hire a magician. It is logical to assume that people from Glasgow who are looking for a magician would type "Glasgow Magician" into a search engine. However, this is not actually the case so to target that phrase would be a bit of a waste of time. This is not always the case, but proper, detailed research allows me to find out exactly what search phrases are worthwhile ranking for to generate a stream of potential customers for you.

Converting Traffic into Sales

In order to convert your sites visitors to paying customers I have to ensure that the information that the customer is likely to want to know is easily found. It's important to realise that a website is simply a way of delivering information. Many designers often too easy to get carried away with creating an artistic, animated or flashy website however, it is important to realise that your sites visitors are not interested in how fancy your website is. If you have targeted the correct search terms, the visitors that are on your site are looking for a product that you offer. Therefore, its important to give them quality information about that product or they will go elsewhere.
