What is a Close Up Magician?

For those of you who do not know what a Close Up Magician is, it is simply a magician who performs magic right in front of people. Close up magic is often referred to as "Street Magic" and since David Blaine's "Street Magic" television special, Close Up magic has exploded in popularity all over the world. Unlike stage magic, it is personal and intimate. The magic effects can often be performed in the hands of the spectator. For this reason, close up magic is very strong. I often do magic tricks where the magic happens in the spectators hands. It's one thing watching magic on TV or on stage, but when someone does something impossible right under your nose, its makes the effect much stronger. I'm sure you can imagine what peoples reactions are like when they witness the impossible happening right before their eyes.
