As many of you know, I perform in my own bar several times a week. This weekend I did my first professional gig as a close up magician in Dundee. Although it could be argued that I have been performing gigs as a magician for ages (with myself as the employer in my own bar), this was officially my first ever gig as a professional magician.
The crowd was fantastic. The gig was for a crowd of young 20-22 year old students. I remember thinking that they are bound to be difficult to work with and will be more interested in getting drunk than paying attention to me. My expectations was way off as every one of them were really sensible. Most of them were hardly drinking much at all. When I was that age, I was the complete opposite. I'm surprised that I never had to have surgery to get the pint out of my hand! lol
I had fun bending a coin for Mel and doing card tricks for Sylvia and her friends. My fondest memory of the night though was when I correctly predicted the time - to the exact minute - of when one of the spectators, Tom, was born. His face was priceless!
